• Re: Dolby AC-3 activation

I was just going to post about not being able to hear AVCHD audio recorded in Dolby AC3. Is that what this thread is about? And what does the bug number mean, that it won't be fixed until an update fixes it? Should I go back to previous version? And if so what version was AC3 last functioning?
This looks like a monitor issue.
I'm still using the same monitor. Different card and different input fixes the problem (KONA 1 and SDI, respectively). I honestly prefer not to retread six months of troubleshooting and tech support emails... but I never did rule out HDMI as a factor, or more specifically
did you ever figure out a solution to this issue?
Sorry I've been meaning to update this thread! Long story short: I spent MUCH time detailing the problem to Blackmagic tech support and they finally agreed to RMA the card. After testing it they sent a screenshot of their own waveform monitor, clearly
hdcinematics V6
It seems this app is behind a PayPal pay wall. Even though it's very cheap I'm hesitant to pay for a utility to do something that Avid should've addressed by now. Rewrapping sounds like the best way to go all things considered, but I'd be chewing up twice as much drive space for

Unfortunately transcoding isn't preferred, due to having hours of footage and a deadline. I hadn't thought of making proxies and relinking, maybe I’ll do that next time. More importantly, I can't believe this issue hasn't ever been fixed.

  • AVCHD waveforms

Does anyone have an efficient workaround to see the audio waveforms while working with linked AVCHD footage? All the posts around here regarding this subject are from 2013.

  • Re: Prepare footage for an editor. I'm lost.

I second Martin Fox and DStone. Sync the clips however you know how to. Avid can handle multitrack ProRes files just fine. Send a short test clip to the editor or test the clips yourself with your new free version of Avid. (Hint: use the Source Browser to Link to the MOV files.) If it were me, I'd want the raw footage for myself but to each their

  • Re: Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K output level is too low

I had almost convinced myself over the weekend that it was my monitor(s) clipping off the blacks below 16, even though I never noticed that happen before. But I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking the signal doesn't seem quite right coming off this card. The two monitors I have don't have component input, they have HDMI. They also have
