Yeah, I actually am using 7.5.5. I'll update my profile. The stuttering really isn't an issue and doesn't bother or concern me at all. Like I said, it's just acting like a PC.

Nope. No warnings, exceptions or errors. It's just that I check once in awhile and often will see that the drive is quite fragmented. The only performance issue I ever have (besides flamethrower errors whenever I have "Output to DV device" selected) is the occasional very short stutter in playback. I've always thought of this as just

Wow. Now you have me scared! I usually defrag before I begin a large project. Perhaps I've just been dodging a bullet. So, tell me... When one's media drive says that it is highly fragmented (30-50%) what is one to do?
-
Interesting, Larry. When I first started using Avid about 5 years ago I used the Avid forums and asked about defragging, as I had heard that it was a no-no. I was assured then that defragging was ok. I defrag my media drive about once a month and have never had any problem. As a matter of fact, I do seem to get better performance once the drive is defragged

I find that PNG files are cleaner than PSD files, especially when keying a graphic. However, I have to flatten the image before saving.

I ran the installer with the old version still on the computer. Should I have done a complete uninstall? On another note, everytime I shut MC down I get a runtime error. Besides the path to the app, the message says: R6025 -pure virtual function call It doesn't seem to be hurting anything, but it's just a bit annoying. Any ideas? Many thanks

Wow. Installed 3.1.3 and now all my presets for sceen layout have gone to crap. I've tried rearranging stuff to the way I like it, and have saved it that way, but it doesn't stick.

This is really interesting. I bit the bullet and purchased QT Pro. Yeah, what's 30 bucks? Converting the AVI file using QT was taking a long time. Just for fun, I tried Squeeze again, and now I can import both the audio and the video into MC. So, did purchasing pro change the way Squeeze deals with the files, or the way MC deals with the files?

That's exactly what I'm doing. The options for audio in Squeeze are: QDesign Standard Qualcomm PureVoice IMA 4:1 Fraunhofer MP3 MACE 3:1 MACE 6:1 ALaw 2:1 32-bit floating point 64-bit floating point 24-bit integer 32-bit integer MPEG-4 Audio 16-bit Little Endian 16-bit Big Endian uLaw 2:1 Thanks so much for your help. I'll let you know if
