• Avid TitleTool Sticky Buttons & RightZoom

In case anyone is having this problem - or for those people doing a frantic Google search: If your TitleTool objects, buttons and text boxes all "stick" to your mouse pointer. If you cannot make changes or add elements to TitleTool, there is a conflict with RightZoom and TitleTool. RightZoom is a wonderous utility*, but has an awkward exclude

  • Re: Weird mouse problem!

I know this is a very old thread - but I just want to say this solved my problem, thank you for figureing out it was "Rightzoom.app" and publishing your solution - saved me from a day of frustration trying to figure out why Avid was misbehaving.

  • Re: MC 8.10 SD project weirdness

This is part of the errors introduced after 8.4.5. ( http://community.avid.com/forums/t/160531.aspx?PageIndex=1 ) From what I gather, Avid has stopped all development of SD/DV leaving us with a reduced set of options for SD work. The 1440 x 1080 is actually a 16:9 format. It's Sony's HDV format using an anamorphic 1440 to stretch it to 1920

  • Re: Media Composer 8.5.3 - missing output to DV device

More bad news: If you create a NTSC 30i project and capture video from tape into DV25, if you add "Image Size" to the headings its listed as "1920x1080" ...AND If you import video clips from a digital source (such as an AVCHD 1080 video clip) into DV25 they are listed as "1440 x 1080" in the "Image Size" heading

  • Re: Media Composer v8.9 - Launched

Heads up! The MC 8.9 installer downgrades your Application Manager to 17.5.1 This is a little annoying since 17.7 has some fixes for CPU high useage.

  • DV Tape Death Throes

I know this is an ancient format, and at its best Firewire was a hot mess. But for the love of Pete, I still have jobs and work that are in this format! Avid has completely destroyed my ability to work with DV projects. Sometime around 8.3 or 8.4 Avid lost the ability to create DV projects. Only SD is now available. (Even "Custom Settings"

  • NewBlue Titler v2 - Length mismatch

I'm just now trying to get my head wrapped around NB TP2, not a big fan yet. I've made some cuts in my filler track on my timeline to section off a 20 second clip. I drag the TP2 effect plugin to the filler track and it seems to work, however: when I step into the user interface - the title is only 6 seconds long. I finally found the place to

  • Re: Avid 8.3 Contract Expiry Message

I don't know if you are working on a Windows or Mac system, but on my Windows system I was having terrible trouble getting licensing to work (on my dongle system) when rolling back to 6.5. Turns out when you uninstall the Application/Licensing Manager it leaves a whole bunch of files in C:\ApplicationData\Avid\ (Hidden System Directory). Once I

  • LegacyOverlay Disabled?

I have a massively out-of-spec (it's 7 years old and has no right to run anything modern) system I use in the field to do quick edits which has been functioning fne. However, recently I had cause to re-install Windows and in the process of re-installing all of my applications, that Avid was no longer functioning. It took me a while to track down

  • Re: Database files
My question was - even if the database file is missing and the media appears offline in MC, would those files still be visible outside of MC, in Finder
Sort of. Yes the media files are listed in the Finder. But without the bin/clips that "link" to those files, rebuilding the media databases
