  • Re: deck config problem

No, but it used to work fine on "generic device"? Of course, there is no template for this particular camera, Avid should have known they couldn't name them all. Again, I have used this camera with Avid Express Pro, and then with Media Composer 5.0 before without any problems, though I do believe there was some trick to the correct settings

  • Re: deck config problem

SO I'm still at a loss. I've used this camera in the past, Windows can see the camera, but not Avid for some reason. I've selected "generic DV device" but still no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction, I know this should work. Thanks in advance.

  • deck config problem

Hi All, I recently added new C drive to my computer (old HD died) which necessitated re-installing MC 5.0. I did this but no matter what I do, I can't seem to properly configure the deck, which in this case is a Sony DV camcorder, model # DCR-HC40. I tried using generic device but Avid still doesn't recognize the deck and I keep getting the

  • Hyperdeck Shuttle

I am looking at purchasing a Hyperdeck Shuttle video recorder by Blackmagic, but need to know if there is any way to work with these files in Avid MC 5.0. I believe they are uncompressed Quicktime files so can these be imported into Avid. Sorry to be so dumb about this, but my workstation/editing computer is down so I can't check by looking under

  • Re: Import AVCHD file size limits?

This FFMBC conversion seems pretty tricky and I am not much of a computer whiz. Is there a simpler alternative? I do like the idea of converting to the Avid codec and time is not a big issue. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Question about AVCHD

I am thinking of buying a Sony NEX 5 to do a couple of documentaries with and, as you all know, it shoots in the AVCHD format. Can I import this directly into Media Composer 5.0? Would I gain anything by updating to MC 5.5? I looked around the forum but couldn't any direct answers. Thanks in advance!

  • Best low-end camera for Avid MC 5.0?

So if I wanted to buy a second hand camera in the $1,000 range, any suggestions as to what HD format/cam might work best with an Avid MC 5.0 setup? Thanks!

  • Re: importing an old project

I think you are right Larry. In the future, what would be a good way to save everything to an external drive? Not just the media but everything I would need to completely re-construct the project from scratch. Thanks for all your help, please keep up the good work!

  • Re: importing an old project

No, I have the media files only. There were some files that were labeled "Untitled Sequence" but they did not import with the other clips when I used Media Tool as you suggested. I don't have (haven't found it yet) any .avb bin files or project files. Just the MXF media files as far as I can tell. I am still searching, but don't
