• Firewire vs. USB

Hey there, For some reason, I am having a hell of a time getting Media Composer 5.0.4 to recognize my firewire devices. I have tried both a DSR-11 deck and a Sony handycam camcorder via firewire, and it is very hit or miss. I can get the camcorder to work most of the time, but not the deck. Anyways, I found a USB cable that works with my camcorder,

Thanks for your help, Kenton. Have a nice day. And, Scott, you're right, I didn't mention the custom keyboard in ny original post. Anyhoo, after more research, I found an adapter from Cyberguys that actually converts the signals from the keyboard to USB, rather than just being a passive adapter, which is what I initially purchased. It just converts

As mentioned, I want to use my Avid keyboard that has all the editing commands displayed on the keys, not a Walmart or whatever, cheapy. I'm going to try Logitech's website, just thought someone might know of another option. thanks.

No, Scott, custom AVid keyboards with all the editing commands mapped and displayed are not cheap. This one cost about eighty bucks as I recall. As mentioned, I want the Avid keyboard, not a Walmart cheapy.

  • Help with keyboard?

I recently switched to a new computer with an ASUS P68 motherboard. It did not accept the old PS2 type keyboard (which I had purchased in the DV Express Pro days) so I got an adapter and hooked it to an available USB port. The computer did not recognize the keyboard. I guess I need some type of driver to get this old keyboard (which I love) to work

Hi Larry, Sorry to be a pest about this, but I just noticed that TigerDirect is selling a new Windows O.S., Windows 8 and there is a Pro version. If I am buying a new O.S., should I buy this new version or stick to Windows 7 Pro for now?
And keep in mind that W7 Professional 64 is the ONLY flavor of W7 that is qualified for Avid version 5 and higher.
So just to be certain, Larry, that means I cannot use Windows Home Premium; it has to be the Professional version? Gotta make sure, 'cause I don't think they will take it back once the

  • Windows O.S.?

I am building a new computer (finally!) and would like to know if Windows 7 64bit is the way to go if I am using Media Composer 5.0.4? I haven't upgraded to MC 6.5 and may not for a while but my computer is a 64 bit system with 16 gigs of RAM. Anyone care to weigh in on this?
