  • Re: Moving project from computer to..

So I managed to get the project folder in the right place; it showed up in list and opened. Since all the media is imported to the hard drive on this machine, I don't think they are linked. I seem to remember a small file you could delete from MXF folder, and on re-start, Avid would re-link to the right hard drive. Do I have this right? Also, all

I am definitely slow at this stuff...I tried doing as suggested but got nowhere fast, big chunks of red slots in timeline, so I guess I need a first-graders, step-by-step on how to move this project from laptop to desktop. I put the media files, and the rest on a thumb drive (USB3.0) and am ready to move it to the big boy, but haven't a clue how

I found the proiject folder on the laptop, but am having trouble locating it on the desktop. Will keep searching.

  • Moving project from computer to..

Hi everyone, I am working in a slightly new way for me. I am using a laptop to do a semi-ruff cut on a film project then I need to be able to move the whole thing to a more powerful desktop computer to finish it up. What would the most efficient workflow be here? I have a 1tb external drive with USB 3.0 or a 128gb 3.0 hi-speed thumb drive? What files

  • Re: Help with computer issue

Well, you nailed it. I was trying to use an external drive through USB 3.0, but apparently this wasn't fast enough for full HD video. I imported the clips to an internal 1tb drive, did some re-editing as a test, and lo and behold, the clips played back fine, no problems with the timeline or anything. So, I guess the story here is that a SATA II

  • Help with computer issue

I am working on a friends MC 7.0.4 system, computer specs listed below and have noticed than when working with linked 1080P 24frame footage, there seems to be a lot of stuttering and difficult playback issues, even at the lowest playback resolution setting. Is this a RAM issue or is something else going on? I don't seem to remember having these

  • Best format for Media Comp First?

I was just wondering if anyone has had the time to do any experimenting with various formats for use with MC1st. I tried some full HD 1080p stuff (.mov) and it more or less played ok, then I tried the same with AVCHD and it didn't work so well. Wouldn't take the audio at all. So I'm thinking maybe a 720P at 30fps in .mov codec might be the

  • Re: Media Composer First "Locked"

See my other post for more detailed explanation. Basically, what I think I needed was a Pace driver. Once this was installed, MC First launched and ran fine. Hope this helps.

  • Export to Media Composer?

So if I use MC First to do a rough cut on my laptop, can I then export the project to my desktop Media Composer, in my office, to finish it up? How would I re-link the media to the new project? Maybe this isn't what it was designed for, but I thought it could be useful in this way. Thanks for your help.

  • Re: Still no joy in Firstville

Yes, I now see a Pace driver in my list of installed programs. Maybe this did it. Not enough of a computer expert to know. but its very nice that MC First works now. I anticipate using it for less complicated stuff that will go right to YouTube. I'm actually grateful to Avid for releasing this, even though I had a bumpy start. All's well that
