  • Re: MC 2019 Interface Issues

So far, the only method of changing workspaces that seems to work every time is using the workspace dropdown or the sidebar to save and launch (but, why give up the real estate?). Once the workpaces are saved using that dialogue in the sidebar...its working as expected here on 2019.9

Sorry you are having trouble. Export setting and creating new settings seems to be working as expected here on the Windows MC install (2019.9). What isn't it doing, exactly? There is an issue with the setting list only showing the active setting...that was cleared up by opening a new project when relaunching....so, the settings got cleaned up and

  • Re: MC 2019 Interface Issues

The project name does appear at the top of the timeline windows on my Mac version of MC First...only running one monitor. The name of the project appears just over the menues on the left monitor of the two monitor Windows setup using either regular MC or MCFirst

The name of the project appears above the various menues at the very top center of the screen? Mine reads "Avid Media Composer Decklink Mini-Monitor (project name)" No clue why the extra stuff about the decklink, etc is there but the projects do change. Hope this helps. BTW... for what its worth, the interface really is working for me. Once

  • Re: Not seeing all settings options

This appears to be a corrupted project problem....creating a new project and relaunching the program brought the dropdowns for settings back. Then, if the original (bad?) project is launched, the dropdowns go away and don't return unless you relaunch the program with another project. No big deal...got the settings fixed but its a bit weird.

  • Not seeing all settings options

I want to delete some export settings, but for some reason, the dropdown arrows next to the settings are gone and only the active setting is shown...thoughts? There used to be a way to show active or all settings...can't find it anywhere now.

  • Re: exporting a collapse track with alpha

....image sequence...been there...done that...no go....tried PNG with millions of colors+ and tiff and you are right...if we could see the alpha and export it out as a matte file, then the fill track is easy to create.... ...from there it would be easy (in theory) to create a 3D matte key and go nuts with the "container" track of all those

  • Re: exporting a collapse track with alpha

After trying the mixdown of a collapsed stack of alpha clips, both as video and as OP1a-MXF...neither one has an alpha. Where is the setting you refer to to show the alphas so the file and matte can be exported in a mixdown? There is a bin display to show precomputes but activating that with the sequence in the bin appears to show the individual mattes

Thanks for the response. Yes, exporting the fill and matte of an effect as separate files (AVI or other) and recombining them works well. For example, this is how to get just about any alpha based file into Boris RED/AVID FX (lots of copies of those programs still floating around..that's where I composite and do a lot of titling). I will try that

You know, folks...we can all layer tons of alpha files on top of each other, promote the effects to 3D matte keys and darn near keyframe just about everything and just go nuts in AVID...its a fact. Its when we try to combine those crazy moves, etc into a container that AVID finally sez...off to a compositing application with you (After Effects, etc
