• Settings.xml

Hi, I'm just wondering what the point of the settings.xml file is, if not all the settings are stored in it? Eg. As far as I can tell, something as basic and fundamental as format settings for projects (ie. the parameters in the format tab in MC), are still stored in the *.avp binary project file, and not in the projects settings xml file (at least

  • Re: .avb ID structure
you can find the offset of the "NIBA" (or possibly "ABIN") string, add 14 (4 for the name, 4 for the length, 6
Using python I search for b'\x03NIBA' and then add 15, so that the cursor lands on the 16th byte after the escape char - where the ID starts. Make a variable of the next 8 bytes

  • Re: last frame mxf appears as offline media

We get this all the time, mostly transcoding from AVCHD sources like GoPro that Avid won't ingest which get sent to Adodes Media Encoder for transcoding to a format that Avid can use. We don't get this with stuff like P2 or any other broadcast formats or cameras, even if they get sent to Adoes encoder first. AME and Avid don't agree entirely

  • WRONG FORMAT qt 2011.07 (qt )

It seems Media Composer interprets some quicktime footage with qt 2011.07 (qt ) in the header as WRONG FORMAT. It's funny that Media Composer 8.2.11 considers this to be WRONG FORMAT - but has no problem transcoding the material without any error message at all - so we get hours of useless 'error message' video on the drive. I had a bunch

  • Re: ConvertToAAF() not implemented for this component type

It seems that the ConvertToAAF function is buggy or just a bit touchy, and is not really keen on those two masterclips at all. It would be nice to know what sends it sulking into a corner? any ideas what might set if off? Anyone?

  • ConvertToAAF() not implemented for this component type

Hi, I get this error checking in a master sequence, and have traced it back to a couple of clips in used in the sequence. MXF on storage seems fine, no discernable difference between these two masterclips transcoded from P2 to XDCAM and the rest of the material from the same card. These clips were checked into Interplay the first time by an ingest account
I've been told that using interplay and "file-open bin" is like Crossing the Streams. It's bad. It leads to access violations, locked bins, lost work, etc.
It mentions in the manual that this is a bad idea - but it doesn't explain at all why. Knowing this would be a benefit for everybody

  • Re: Python library for interacting with Interplay

I would welcome it too. I'm doing the same thing automating with python. ATM I have a Python/Django system that can do all things related to managing files on storage with the os module, some FFMPEG transcoding, creating projects and templates and so on. As far as AMA goes it works OK with Avid, it interfaces with native editors and tools such as

...but it is towards the footer in all the bins I looked at (and I looked at a LOT) - I don't like doing it this way, but I'm looking for a 5 byte hex starting with an end of text char. The ID is very close to that and you can change up to 8 bytes. I can successfully find & change it in any type of bin now, even though the position changes

  • Re: .avb ID structure

Hi Igor, Thanks for sharing... I had a bit of time to look at some binaries.... Not much is changing in the header except the date and some data in the 8 byte (decimal) range 55-62. There is data in the centre & footer changing also - at 206, 624-32, 6016 and 6088. It's not in the header, after quite a bit of messing about.
