Martin: If you're running version 5 or earlier, the term is "auto gain". As of version 6 they changed "auto gain" to "volume".

To create audio keyframes: 1) You must have the Audio Keyframer button active (two overlapping triangles) under the mode controls below the smart tool. 2) Under "Audio data" in the timeline fast (hamburger) menu, both "clip gain" and "volume" should be active. You should now be able to add and adjust audio keyframes.
