So if I'm running 10.5.6 I should just stick with version 3.0.5? Or does it not really matter? Not sure what 3.0.5 is meant to support up to ---- didn't realize it was a big issue. Thanks.

That's not the right camera - this one is SD with USB output.

This helps a lot. Lastly, some of thise import options don't exist in the way you describe (I'm running Media composer 3.0.5) Perhaps this is why? Mine are Image size Adjustment: with the options: Image properly sized for image format Crop/Pad for DV scan difference Do not resize smaller images Resize images to fit format raster AND File pixel

Thanks - I'll do that right now. But I am running a MacBook Pro early 2008 - 2.4 - 4gb ram. Perhaps I can just use Imovie as a (free) converter - I just imported the movies from imovie into Avid no problem. is this an acceptable method? thanks!

How do I capture/import files from this camera (Sony DCR-sr45)

Here's a link to the camera specs: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DCR-SR45-Handycam-Camcorder-Optical/dp/B00123UGXK It's nothing fancy - but I'm unfamiliar on how to capture/import digital video files that aren't .mov. The root files on the camera's hard drive they seem to be something called .MPG - Of course they import into Imovie

This helps a lot. I assume Windows NTFS is the same as Windows NT Filesystem, yes? That's the format option it gave me on my Mac, anyways. There was also an option for Windows NT Filesystem compressed but I didn't choose that (correct move?). Downladed Pentagon trial and it's working great. Also saw something called MacFuse as an alternative
