There are a lot of folks in our business who don't hear of Avid because it can't be bought at Best Buy.
Maybe that is one of the problems. I know only Avid stor as the place I can buy Media Composer software, and of course B&H there we bougth our first AXP with Mojo. For Mojo and Nitris DX, I think
Media Harmony was only designed for Media Shareing and not Project Sharing. In actually fact it has not gone forward in development as it is no longer really required. With some clever directory naming (Media Directory Names) and path mapping you can achieve the Media Harmony effect with a simple NAS.
How do

There was/is Medialog, or something like that, which comes with MC. The problem is it can only be used with a deck with RS-424 connection. Maybe it is time for developing a new version for a file based workflow.
Media Harmony does work - I know people who have tried it. However you still lack the bin locking that Unity offers, meaning multi-editor work has to be more disciplined.
Do You know in which way it does not work? BBC claims it works in their white papers. I understant it is not a replacement for Unity, but

The tool Media Harmony is also a very interesting solution. A VFS to Samba which allow You to share Avid media files on a Samba-server (Linux-server emulation a Windows fileserver). This is a software I have asked for.
Avid should be offering this kind of service
Agree, but they must add some value added. I think they would make it possibly to share MC projects between editors on different location. Also build in a timeline viwer there you mark one sequece for review and Your customers can watch the video and also put in comments

1. Depends what You mean with processing power. Both Nitris DX and Mojo DX do some video centric trix for MC, such as scaling video. 2. With Mojo DX, the CPU will trnascoding the incoming HD-SDI to DNxHD. With Nitris DX, the incoming HD-SDI is transcoding in the box without any use of the CPU.
Universal Mastering means that you can take any 23/24/25p SD or HD project and output as 23/24/25/29 p or i SD or HD during Digital Cut, including necessary speed changes. Mix and match allows you to use different framerates within the same project, and it will adjust motion adapters on clips that don't match

Agree, I is about attitude. In the past, Avid has released new updates every twice month, mostly bugfix but some feature they do not finish in time. This is a attitude that the customers need bugfree software. Also, the long list in the readme about bugs, fixed and outstanding issues, is the attitude of a company who develop software for time critical

It is a very expensive solution compare to what Adobe included in Premiere Pro. I understand that Interplay and wan browsing has its market niche, but for most of us, it is an overpowered product. I think Avid editors also need a simpler solution for these type of browsing, just as the pdf-preview in Premiere Pro.
