  • Re: AVCHD compatible with media composer?

To use the AVCHD media in Avid, it must 1st be converted using a free converter from Panasonic. Then one can import the files as P2, and consolidate, etc. My limited experience is that the 1st conversion takes about 1,4x real-time. Also believe Bob Russo has a little how-to vid on this.

  • Re: XDCAM EX Issue with long files - over 4 GB per file

You need to connect the two pieces together in Sony Clip Browser -- believe it's the Split Folders command, but not certain. In any event, stitch together in Clip Browser, then reimport as one file, having saved to another location.

We use standard blackburst with our DVCProHD

  • Re: Adrenaline toast?

[quote user="Mondo"] Your problem most likely is tri-level sync which you need for HD. SD uses a different reference signal (in fact Adrenaline has separate inputs (as opposed to Nitris). • Timecode in from a PMW-EX30

Has anyone managed to find a way to digitize from the XDCAM EX30 deck w/ retention of source timecode? TC is embedded in the HD-SDI, but turning off deck control in Capture only allows system TOD TC. The EX30 deck itself has no RS-422, and the HDV out only works if your footage is in the less desirable SP 25Mb format, so no ability to pull TC info from

  • Re: Question:Highest Quality Workflow from XDCAM EX?

Quality degradation has not been experienced at all here when transcoding XDCAM EX files ro DNxHD - tested extensively early on w/ wipes, etc. Not sure if your method is going to show degradation - and what specifically is it that you see? What flavor DNxHD are you transcoding to? There are no parameters to set for the import of XDCAM files, only once

  • Re: DVCPro 720p/59.94 Multi Clip -how many streams in real time

As we and others have experienced, and posted elsewhere on this forum, there is a significant speed gain to be had in upgrading a SN "Classic" on a xw8200 / xp 32bit to a xw8400 / vista business 64bit. So far, all memory crunches we previously encountered are gone, and interface is snappier, etc. The Vista 64 allows 4GB ram to be devoted to
