  • Re: P2 AVC-Intra - Problems with AVID workflow

Yes, it should be. Unfortunately, bringing in, keeping, and relinking to p2 clips is not at all like working with regular media files. It is the P2 folder structure that is the problem. Simply copying the p2 card as is, onto the archive harddrive isn't good enough for future relinking to work. It only works for that session. Here is my permanent

  • Re: Rendering just blue dot effects

I am quite aware of what RTFM means. I am quite well aware of how to use help. I am also quite aware of HOW to use the expert render command, which is all that help tells you. I moved on to the advanced guides when I did not find the answer to my problem. The information is not there either. The reason I am bothering to post the question, (and if it

My guess is, you cannot modify the clips while they are still in the P2 file structure, or on the P2 media. Once you have moved them into the Avid Mediafiles folder structure (whether on Unity or local drive) then you can modify them. We were dumping our cards on set, to hard drives without Avid and I was bring the harddrive home and opening it up in

Sorry, I posted too soon. I will look into the "Digital Cut" method and see if I can get that to work.

Yeah, I have done a search of both the Advanced guide and the FX guide and didn't get a single hit on "expert render". I am not seeing these options that you are talking about. It just asks me if I want to render everything or just selected ranges. Are there differences in Expert Render between 3.1.3 and 3.5.1? flicmaker

  • Rendering just blue dot effects

Hi all, I have an effects heavy sequence, but am enjoying the benefits of many realtime effects. (GRIN) However, I do have a few blue dot effects scattered through out the sequence. I am cleaning out my precomputes to free up some drive space and need to rerender the blue dotters. However, when I mark in and out points on the entire sequence and select

  • Re: Filter out a hard drive?

I have had success creating a text file named AvidMediafiles and placing it at the root of the drive I want to safeguard. You can still export to it, but it Avid won't use it as a media drive. Another option is to create a batchfile that first unmounts the drive and then launches Avid. You could give it the Avid Icon and people wouldn't even

Our work flow with P2 AVCI was to transcode to DNX36 for offline cutting. I assigned the AVCI clips a tape name before doing the transcode, so that the new media had a tape name associated with them. Relink then works for the DNX36 media. Our intentions are to transcode again to a higher DNX for onlining. It was my understanding last year when I started

  • Re: Batch Capture problems, how to force media relink? HDV DIG_TOO_SHORT

Recapturing HDV is a pain in the backside, so you have my sympathy. What I have done in the past when faced with the same problem is to open a brand new bin, crash record the clips starting before the previously logged in point and stopping after the logged out point. Then once you have these new media files, select the sequence and relink it to the

  • Re: Too many composites

No, the problem is not playback. I can play the sequences fine. The problem I am asking about is the speed at which I work. If this were a normal dramatic or comedic short I would have maybe three or four tracks depending on titles or reformatting, etc. And I would be able to zip through this, cutting it in very little time. But with so much green screen
