I just upgraded to MC 2024.2.0 and Blackmagic Desktop Video 12.8.1 and the problem is still there . I sent an email reporting this to BM's support site. I'm using a Mac Studio M1 ultra and OS 14.1.

If the problem has been solved, I'd expect to see a lot of posts saying so and agreeing on what to do to solve it. Am I wrong?

Despite my preferences about not installing new software, my Mac Studio M1 Ultra installed OS 14.1 overnight. I'm currenly running MC 2022.7.0 but can upgrade to 2023.8 if necessary. I realize that OS 14.1 isn't yet approved for either of these MC versions. MC 2022.7.0 still opens my projects in OS 14.1, but I wonder if there is trouble ahead

Does dpilon2004's combination of OS, MC version and BM software on a MacStudio solve the playback problem for everyone who has tried it?
-
Good idea. I'll contact Blackmagic.

If you do it this way, doesn't MC apply the level of the clip where the playhead is placed to all the other clips in the timeline rather than raising or lowering them by a certain number of db?
-
I'm not sure what you mean by the master fader output. Do you mean the HW output level, which is in the output tab of the audio project page? In MC 2022.7 this seems to have a default of -20db and offers a couple of other choices of higher outputs. I don't know whether this control affects only monitoring (as the master fader does) or whether

I found the simpler way: do an audio mixdown, change the level on the mixed dual mono tracks, and export only these.
-
I just realized the same thing when using 2022.7. Is there any simpler way of changing the overall volume of the mix other than exporting the audio, linking it back into MC, and then changing the gain of the export in the audio mixer?

Another clue: All of the sequences in this project produce the same error message.
