  • New track creation on drag (stop it)

I don't like it when new tracks are created if I drag a clip too high or too low in the timeline. Messes me up more oftan than helps. But I can't find a way to disable this feature. Is there a way?

  • Re: Can't play popup window from timeline record mode

Marianna do you know if there is any news on this. Am i missing something? I was recently between projects and updated from 8.6.5 to the current version. But I heavily use the feature of viewing and editing from the source timeline as it allows me to better see which audio tracks I want to bring into my sequence. It was working up to 8.6.5 for me. Now

  • Re: Edit with fewer audio tracks?

I guess I should clarify my end goals: 1) Have some way of distinguishing audio tracks after import and subclipping. If I import polyphonic BWFs and subclip, there are no identifiers to indicate which track is which. ie, boom, lav, mix, etc. So my 'solution' was to split BWFs into mono files. Then use timeline option Clip Text/Source Names

Thanks for these details Job. I am doing something similar to this, but I'll likely have to test to see if it works like you describe when we get to Protools. I am importing monophonic BWAVs as you suggest, for the same reasons. But I am not using ALE's (I am not familiar with them, but brief research suggests they aren't really used now

Thanks for the suggestion Job. Yes, I was wondering if maybe this would be an option. I'll check with some post audio folks. I am guessing that when I export the AAF, I would check (can't remember exactly now what it's called, but something like) 'include unused tracks' or something along those lines.

  • Re: Sound Devices Autosync rack Names not shown in Timeline

I've been working on this exact problem last couple days. Here is my less-than-ideal workaround: I am using Sound Devices - Wave Agent (free) to split the BWF file into individual files for each track. Then I name those individual files with help names.ex: [reel####]-[T##]-[boom] [reel####]-[T##]-[john] etc. Then import them into avid (without detecting

Yes, wake it up indeed. We need to keep the pressure on. I've been following this and waiting to update. Sure is fun to pay a monthly subscription for software I can't update because of this silly change. The explanation of losing bins is just annoying. We've managed for many years Avid. Don't need your 'help' now. Just get it

  • Edit with fewer audio tracks?

Cutting a feature doc. Footage has been synced and subclipped. Most subclips have 6-8 tracks of audio: - Camera reference - BWF Mix L and R - 2 lavs - Boom - Sometimes a Stereo pair Just one camera. Is there a handy way to edit by just using 1 or 2 tracks of audio in the sequence, and then bringing all the other tracks in before sending it off to audio

  • Re: Batch Rename XAVC Files

Sony now has two pieces of software that will rename XAVC files while maintaining folder structure and metadata. You would need to do this before importing into avid. Check out Catalyst Browse (free) or Catalyst Prepare (paid).
