The workflow I regularly used (especially when working on 720/24p projects-when you can't switch the format tab and roll out direct) is to export a QT ref, then import into a SD project (29.97i here in NTSC land) at 1:1. Depending on import settings you can maintain 16X9 (anamorphically) or get an instant letterbox. Gives me an SD project I can

I use BCC's blur effect for this, selecting "outside the shape (rectangul or oval)" for where to apply the blur. You can then adjust the feathering, amount of actual blur in the vingette, and by blending it with a "multiple mix" mode (also inside the effect) darken the area.

you can't output directly from a 720p project through a MojoSDI to a SD BetaSP deck, can't flip the format to 30i like you can in 1080i projects. Worked a bit in 1080i, but better image from the camera (HVX) using the native 720p format, and I questioned the quality I got when switching formats (probably just perception) but format switched

Do a good deal of work shooting and editing in 720p (24 or 60fps depending on the project) broadcast projects need to be delivered SD on BetaSP...I know...I live and work in the middle of cornfields, and until John Deer starts manufacturing HD equipment this market will stay at SD BetaSP analouge. My workflow has been to export a QT ref from the 720

I second the Procoder recomendation, another workflow I use for projects that start 720p HD and need to go to SD tape or DVD is export a QT ref from the HD project, then import into a SD project at 1 to 1 for roll out. Using the resize selections in the import dialouge you can get either an anamorphic (16X9) or letterboxed clip. good luck

Shooting a short movie over the long weekend, HVX200a, 720 24pn. One shot is supposed to be a news reporter doing on outro on a broadcast camera (traditional 30i) Producer asked for the (cliche) corner graphic record lite and battery indicator to indicate the shot is from the news camera. I was wondering if there was a way with fluidfilm/timewarp to

If the camera op reset the camera to "24p" and not "24pn" then you would actually have 30i video (as AVID is flagging it) Panasonics "24p" mode captures in 30i with the 3:2 pulldown fields/frames inserted (ready for broadcast). I had a similar problem with P2 files captured on a Firestore. The Firestore was set for "native"

on your export settings deselect the "mixdown audio" check box. As to the mixdown v original P2 clips: make sure the "use AVID codec" is selected. I use the export/import technique all the time with P2 clips coming off of a firestore (which formatted as FAT32 has a 2gb file size limit so constantly spreads out takes across a couple
