• Re: A way to quickly re-import files that were imported before power loss?

THANKS! IT WORKED! I could hug you. I just created a new bin, dragged the .mdb file in (didn't know you could even do that!), and just selected the files I needed and dragged them back into the original folder. I will definitely be keeping this trick in mind for future reference, as this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened.

  • Re: Can't Remove Blank Space at End of Timeline

Thanks all, and sorry for the long delay in thanking. (Supposedly I'm supposed to receive email notifications when someone replies but that didn't happen in my case, so I figured there was no activity on the thread until I checked up on it just now.) I ended up just selecting in/out before exporting, which I knew I could always do (but was kind

  • A way to quickly re-import files that were imported before power loss?

Here's the set-up: I was importing a bunch of files overnight into my Avid system (Composer 7.0, PC), and was near the end of the import process when I lost power. As expected, when I restarted the computer later, and opened the program and the bin I was importing the files into, there was nothing there, because my system doesn't do any auto
Before I start chasing this down Scott.... what version of MC are you on? Marianna
I'm using Media Composer 7.0 with Interplay / Intensity Pro on PC.

  • Can't Remove Blank Space at End of Timeline

After editing down an existing timeline by a few seconds, I have not been able to remove the blank space at the end of the timeline. (I've been an Avid user for 15+ years, and this is the first time I've ever encountered this issue!) I've done all the things I always did--set the in/out points and hit "X" and it has always worked

  • "Blue dot" effect won't render in old SD project

I'm using MC 7.0, and pulled up a 10-year-old Standard-Def project that needed some updating (I think it was created with the ancestor of Media Composer, the Avid DV Express). I've been trying to apply a transition effect that I created in Avid FX, and it won't render to give me a seamless playback. When I hit the render button, it will

  • Re: External HD monitor for MC 7.0?
Did you have MC installed when you added the BM card and the BM drivers? If not the BM drivers will not have installed the Avid specific files. It maybe worth uninstalling the BM drivers and re-installing them. It should just work. I presume the BM control panel can see the card ok?
That appears to have

  • Re: External HD monitor for MC 7.0?

Thanks for responding. It's not a stupid question given my limited technical prowess! But yes, the card's driver is installed (and actually has been for quite some time) and I know the PC is interfacing with it properly, as far as I can tell. In fact I recently checked to make sure that the driver was up to date. I just can't find any documentation

  • External HD monitor for MC 7.0?

I hope I'm not asking to reinvent the wheel, but I've not yet found a satisfactory answer in the forums, the documentation, or elsewhere online (or at least nothing that is clear to someone as technically bewildered as I am). I've been looking all afternoon. Here's what I want to do: I want to preview my timeline playback onto an external

  • Firewire for laptop w/ no firewire OR PCMCIA card slot

I have a Dell Inspirion laptop that has neither a Firewire port nor a PCMCIA card slot. I would like to know if anyone has had any success in getting reliable Firewire by using the "two step" process of a PCMCIA adapter that connects to the computer via USB, and then plugging in a Firewire PCMCIA card into the adapter. (StarTech makes both
