  • Re: Questions RE: "How Avid Media Composer Uses a Computer"

Matt Schneider - Very sorry I didn't respond to your post back in November. Just surfaced from two straight documentary edits. You are correct. As it was explained to me, the wrapper is everything. Contrary to logic, right?!? Someone in the process of assisting me to write that AvidBlog used an analogy that explains it pretty well. Take a coin.

  • Re: Single CPU with X Cores vs. Dual CPU with X/2 Cores

As usual Pat, you are spot-on with every point. I've done some extensive testing of my own with processor speeds. Essentially, racing computers against themselves and each other. I have SO many different configurations of Avid Media Composer systems at my disposal, that it simply became a hobby (if you will). Here's what I arrived at. One time

I did some research on this kind of thing with Avid's engineers recently. Made a blog out of it. Here: http://www.avidblogs.com/how-avid-media-composer-uses-a-computer/ For the longest, longest time, Avid Media Composer was "core agnostic". It barely understood how to use them, and when it was redesigned to start using them, it was still

I'd love to get this answer directly from someone inside Avid who actually works on the team qualifying the cards. Or at least someone over them who makes the rules about how/why to qualify

  • Questions RE: "How Avid Media Composer Uses a Computer"

Hi everyone. There's a new AvidBlog: "How Avid Media Composer Uses a Computer" . Here: http://www.avidblogs.com/how-avid-media-composer-uses-a-computer/ It is part of a group effort with Avid's Chief Architect Shailendra Mathur plus the awesome engineers on the architecture team Stephen Crocker, Markus Weber, Sharon Fincher and many

  • Re: Okay to use Mac Sierra 10.12.5 now with MC 8.6.5?

Real deal: The only MC version compatible with 10.12.5 is MC8.8.5. Anyone who says otherwise is not informed. See here: http://www.alwaysediting.com/avid-sierra.html

  • Re: Renaming a Project

It's actually an old school gag to play on someone. Sneak into a fellow editor's room on April Fool's day, and rename the project's "_.avp" file to something goofy. Does no harm.

  • MC 8.8.4 is here!

Avid is pleased to announce the release of Media Composer v8.8.4. This is mainly a bug fixer, but if you scroll down you'll see it fixes a LOT of them. Note: This version runs on macOS 10.12.4. Newer versions of macOS are still being tested by Avid. Remember, if an OS is not qualified yet, THERE IS A REASON. For more information, go [ HERE ]. Here

  • Re: Problems importing MXF files

Yes this was a common issue with older versions of Media Composer, like the v8.4.0 you are using. (I've tried to block all of that manual labor out of my mind as a bad dream.) Once Media Composer's Source Browser was released, workflows got a lot easier. Is there any way in your situation you could upgrade to any version of MC 8.8.x? For example
