"V" is for Vending Machines

Inspired by a comment from Lew in Florida I have been collecting footage for this for almost 1 year. My 2nd MC project.
There is 1 vending machine to every 23 inhabitants of Japan. They rake in about 58,000,000,000 USD/year.
Contrary to popular rumours in the West, machines selling adult literature are not especially widespread. The leader of the pack is the Soft drink machine!
Apart from the amazing reliability of the machines the thing that strikes most foreigners is the placement of them. Japan has very special zoning laws!

Shot with a Sony Z1 from a tripod. Nothing to beat lugging a tripod over the rocks of a riverbank.
1. Keeps you in trim, and
2. Saves a lot of work with image stabilisation in post!

Edited in Media Composer.
Exported as a QT Reference file.
Transcoded in Canopus Procoder 2 to a wmv file.
Finally to an flv file in FlixPro.

Just foolin' around with my logo in Avid 3d. Many have said that Avid 3d is useless since they did away with the modeling tools, but I think it is pretty cool. You can do a lot with it in terms of animation and adding surfaces to imported *.ai files such as this logo.

Btw, this isn't a serious effort at this point... fwiw. Just playing around on a Saturday afternoon.

I started this in Avid 3d but ran into roadblocks (racking my brain for hours on end) due to serious bugs in the modeling tool which I reported and at the request of Avid, documented in detail and forwarded to Softimage. Avid/Softimage decided to remove modeling tools in the next (current) version.

I created the label texture graphics from scratch in CorelDRAW! (and Photoshop) using the basic Pepsi logo (only the lettering and globe (sans burst graphics) were available) from Pepsi's password protected corporate logo/graphics download page (courtesy of Pepsico). I cut a Pepsi can apart, flattened it and scanned it and put it on a locked, ghosted layer in CorelDRAW! for layout reference.

I created the models in Sofimage|XSI from scratch... steep learning curve, but an awesome program. This is a work in process... many more tweaks to come, including music and sound effects. Now that the main work is done, it can of course be used/reanimated in many ways.

(Fwiw, attempts to adjust the specular value in the Blinn (vs. Phong) caused a major system crash..)

I used Media Composer only for finding and outputting the still for the thumbnail.

Ministry Training Segment

This segment will be part of a larger training video that is used by Chosen Children Ministries to train their mission teams who travel to Nicragua to work with orphaned children and families in poor barrios.

As this is my first project, I am interested in general suggestions, critiques, etc.

Audio is not working for some reason. Give me your thoughts about the video portion, please.
