A looong time ago I did video editing with V5.0.4 then got out of the biz. I'd like to get back into it but don't need the latest and greatest. Can I simply buy a copy of Version 7.0.4? This would do the trick just fine. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!
Also, I might consider a monthly subscription if my old software counts toward the $39.99 plan. Can someone shed a little light on this?
Hi Bushfilms....
We dont sell that version any longer. Only MC 8.8.x is being sold as a perpetual or rental. Y9u might find an older copy on ebay or if someone is selling on on of the video sites.

Have you thought of buying a used dongle on Ebay?
Many of the cheaper ones are being sold for around $500 because their subscription/support plan has expired, so you can't upgrade them past the last version they were blasted with. However, dongles allow you to use any version from the last 'blast' back to v5.5.
Be careful of people telling you that because you have a perpetual licence, that you can continue to update forever. They'll often have a photo of a dongle dump that shows it expiring in 2065, but that isn't relevant to your support plan - which needs to be updated yearly. Once you let that support lapse, you cannot re-join or licence your dongle for future versions (unless Avid have a special promotion).
As far as the software is concerned, you should be able to get the version you need from Avid's download centre (if you've got an account with them), otherwise, I'm sure someone on these forums can provide you with a link to an earlier version.
