Bullet List with AvidFX
Although Avid Title Tool and Avid Marquee are capable of handling most types of Text effects, it can be nice to find a quick way of using a Title template to do some more advanced effect. AvidFX has a very powerful Title tool under the bonnet. Here is a look at a quick way of creating a Bullet List....

Global Audio Adjustment
Not the only way to do it. But here is one way that I have found that makes sense to me. Also included is a little tip on resetting the Volume Slider to zero. Regards, Douglas The playback screen can be maximised by clicking on the "Full-Screen" button on the control strip.

Expanding Library of Media Composer Tutorials
I am a relative newcomer to Media Composer (early 2008) and as I began to feel my way around I got the idea of documenting my adventures by creating short video tutorials, Avid had already a large number of excellent, professionally produced tutorials online. I learned very much from watching them. However...

Creating a "Freeze-Frame" in MC
Easy to do when you know how, but sometimes difficult for a newcomer to figure out! NB. When actually in the "Freeze-frame" pulldown menu, there are many more choices than I mention in this tutorial. For example you can choose "others" and specify an exact length for the created Freeze...

Add your own Transitions to the "Quick Transition" Menu
I'd like to thank Pixel Monkey for starting a very interesting thread in Avid's Tips & Tutorials area. His first post gave me the inspiration for this Tutorial. The url to his thread is: http://community.avid.com/forums/t/62367.aspx The "Quick Transition" Menu has a choice of: Disslove...

Using Keyframes in Effects
To say the least, I was very confused by keyframes when I first began using BorisFX and later AvidFX. I could never seem to get consistent results. Hopefully this very basic look at keyframing will point you in the correct direction. Good luck! Douglas The playback screen can be maximised by using the...

Getting from the MC timeline onto the Web causes lots of confusion. Mainly because of the many variations in video formats and codecs. There is no way that a set of 3 tutorials could cover all possibilities. Taking the simple approach I will show you my workflow and then leave it up to you to discover...

Avid Pan & Zoom
This Tutorial is longer than I usually produce. This is due to the fact that I want to show a few of the pitfalls that I met when trying to learn this technique. The actual Pan & Zoom part is covered by a very informative Avid Xpress Pro product quick tour video. It can be found at: http://community...

Nudge Nudge!
The default keyboard has a set of very useful "nudge" commands mapped to four of the keys. Newcomers might miss these in their initial meeting with MC. Maybe you can find some use for them! Regards, Douglas The playback screen can be maximised by using the "Full-screen" button in...
