  • Field Order Question

Hi there, this time ive got an all time favourite question. Because i cannot figure it out anymore.... In PAL country, i am shooting with a HPX 500 or a HVX 200, in DVCPRO-50 for example. When i import the P2 mxf files into MC 2.8.3, they are recognized in the bin as DV50 files. So far so good. When... (read more)

  • MXF Import Problems... Strange Things Happening

I'm having major problems importing P2 files into Xpress Pro (v.5.8) and cannot figure out why. I shot on an HVX and saved copies of all the P2 card offloads (maintaining the same file structure, etc) on the media drive of my system. I imported a few cards worth of material into Avid (using the "Import... (read more)

  • Batch Import P2 files?

Is there anyway to bring more than one P2 contents folder in at a time? in FCP you can select the conatining folder and it will bring in all the clips within the contents folders that are inside? I'm on 2.7.2 but would be happy to upgrade to get this time saving functionality. Thanks (read more)

  • TCReader problem

I saw it was an old problem but I just got the same error with P2 MXF Files with an audio TC on channel 2. TCReader: ReadTimecode() Unexpected AME status [3] It happened with only the spanned files (multiple 2GB files combine to 1 long DNxHD files), so probably something goes wrong with the merging of... • Re: p2 media archiving

In order to see the MXF files in Avid you have to restore them to folder X:\Avid MediaFiles\MXF\1\. The last folder - "1" can be replaced by any number and this way you can kepp the files organised. But even if you use other folder with differen number as the name, you MUST still have the folder... • P2 import (clips to bin and manual)

Hey all, First things first. Running 5.8.0 on OS 10.4.10. G5 (4x 2.5GHz PPC) and 2.5 GB RAM. Quicktime is 7.2. Does that cover? Anyhow, trying to bring in some P2 footage into a project that will have both 30i and 59.94. I set up the project at 30i, hoping to go between the formats within the project... (read more)

  • Re: 24p confusion

I think the process would be to batch-convert all your footage from the Firestore (ie, remove the pulldown) using MXFX. Then import all this converted footage into the Avid in a 23.976 project. I would recommend doing a transcode to an Avid DNxHD codec such as DNxHD 60 for a 720p project type. Then edit... (read more)

  • Re: 24p confusion

Actually, I disagree with some of the advice given here. If it was shot 24p, I recommend cutting it 24p. Especially if there is the slightest chance in hell that it'll get shot out to film at some point. Also, if you do any visual effects work, or motion effects, it's far better to do so on the...
