    I am getting "invalid output compression" too. I am force converting a 23.98 fps clip to 25 in order to get the DNxHD 185 option. I don't have any 25 fps RED clips at hand. (read more)

    The way it works is you load the Filmsribe generated XML, load the FS SCAN Redcine.xls rule and hit CTR+T to translate the XML. A new window pops up with a Redcine formatted XML. It does not get saved automatically. You have to go to Save As and save it yourself. I am not sure that this workflow is valid... (read more)

    Frame rate is one problem with the SD approach. Whether you're working in 25fps or 29.97fps your RED footage is likely to be shot at 24fps or 23.98fps. In N. America for example that means that you have to use 3:2 pulldown in the MXF footage. This is all fine, Media Composer can deal with it superbly... (read more)

    "old-HP" sounds slow. XW8200 and below will probably be pretty slow unless you're not on deadlines. I think that using Macdrive to write onto a Mac formatted disc is slower than writing to a PC formatted disc. I never tested this but you should look into that. It's not really MetaFuze...     Unfortunatelly neither Media Composer nor MetaFuze support D21 RAW files at this time. If you can debayer the files using a third party solution and render the files in a file format Media Composer can read then could do this. Timecode would be an issue as well.
