Why can't Avid MC have a road map?

FYI: http://www.lightworksbeta.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=112&Itemid=246. This will probably get all The Lawyer & NDA home boys  in a  Frenzy. Cool

Re: Why can't Avid MC have a road map?

How is that relevant to Avid exactly?

It's a roadmap to outline Editshare's migration of Lightworks to open source.  Since that was a stated goal when Editshare acquired LW, you would expect that they would be required to display something like this at this stage.

    MC 7.0.4 - Asus P6T Deluxe V2 mobo - Intel i7 920 2.66GHz - Windows 7 Ult64 SP1 - nVidia Quadro FX 1800 - 16 Gbyte low latency DDR3 RAM - Internal 8 Tb... [view my complete system specs]

It's a nice, crowd appeasing document....and lets remember how small that crowd/user base is right now.  If Avid could do this, can you imagine the uproar from folks on these forums on what feature gets developed when...?  Wink  Tough to do that by popular vote.

That said, Avid needs to get rolling on all cylinders soon.   With CS5/Premiere, Final Cut and now Lightworks in the mix, the "race to the bottom" just got more interesting and Avid can't afford another release like 5.0 for it's existing user-base.

I agree but the L.W. forum started in Dec Or Jan & has 36,416 members now. people are looking at other providers and If Avid doesn't step up they will lose more market share, more money & more employees.

Yep.  In the meantime, I will be downloading this latest LW beta version....always good to be aware of ones surroundings.
