How to Insert an Audio Clip Into Your Forum, Tutorial, or Blog Post

Using MP3 audio clips on Avid Community is easy to do. In only two steps, I'm going to show you how to insert your hosted audio files into a Community Forum, Tutorial or Blog post.

This step-by-step guide assumes you've already uploaded your MP3s to a server (not Avid Community) and are in the process of writing your tutorial post.

    Step 1: Upload

Your MP3s will need to live on a web site somewhere. It can be your personal site or a company site--as long as the url looks something like this: http://www.mysite.com/example.mp3. Copy the web address of the MP3.

    Step 2: Insert Media

While writing your forum, tutorial or blog post, click the Insert Media button in the toolbar. The Insert Media icon looks like a filmstrip.

Clicking Insert Media will open a dialog box.

Paste the web address of the MP3 from Step 1 into the "Media URL" field. Ignore width and height boxes.

    Click the Insert button.

In the body of the post, you'll see a line of code in brackets. This is where the actual MP3 will be inserted when you post. You can move the bracketed code around anywhere in the body of the post in relation to your text description.

    All done!

The end result will look like this:

    Thanks Adam,

It's interesting to see the distinct lack of audio in the forums (especially when dealing with audio problems). Lots of video and images, but very little audio!

Thanks Zac, I agree! Also, you've got a great community of audio professionals over on the Avid Audio Forums who might be willing to weigh in http://duc.avid.com.
