Standard def MXF on MC 2.2.7 ok?

I've been reading how MXF is the new file format over OMF, and of the advantages of MXF.

In my MC Adrenaline 2.2.7 version help file, it says in the topic "Export Settings: QuickTime Compression"...

"This format cannot be used by Meridien-based systems."

... in the description for the following MXF formats.

    Avid 1:1x
    Avid DNxHD Codec
    Avid DV100 Codec
    Avid Packed Codec

Does this mean I shouldn't use MXF for standard definition video?

MXF can be used for either HD or SD, and is now the default on Avid systems.  However, you can choose OMF as an alternative.  MXF is the only option for HD.  OMF is SD only.  Meridien systems are SD only, and OMF only.  If you create MXF media, it cannot be played on a Meridien system.  So, if you're in a shared storage environment, and have both newer systems, and older Meridien-based systems, you should use OMF media for compatibility between systems.
