Here you can download r3d files to test.

I am giving the original thread and not the link.

Moving them to a faster disk it's a lot better as for playback.

RAID 0  could make a difference here.

Right click at the AMA linked r3d clip and choose Set Source Settings and you can change many attributes at the file. Impressive.

    A scarlet would be useful...

You can change the ISO also!

When you use AMA linked videos at a different framerate MC5 applies a timewarp to match the framerate.

This makes things harder for the CPU to play. Choosing the correct project format will make a difference.

    Re: MC5 Diary

I open up an older project and the sequence promoted with no problem.

Everything played fluid as before (maybe a little bit better) but i faced a problems with

the titles I have created at MC 3.1.3.

The Greek characters didn't display right and I couldn't find the problem.

Changing local input methods from Greek to English and vice versa didn't help.

Then I saw the last option at the Interface tab which was specific for characters

from older projects titles which had Greek characters as an example...

When I applied this my titles were displayed as before.

At a 4:3 project using 2 Digital Juices clips.

The one set to pillar and the other to the normal strecth.

Export goes fine but the first part of the exported file (same as source Avid codec) gives this.

How to set an audio clip as stereo so it could be use at a stereo track.

Right click at the imported file and choose Modify (1).

From the drop down list select Set Multichannel Audio (2).

Click at the stereo icon to link the 2 separate tracks to one (3).

P.S. Some people (like I did) fail to see that there is a drop down list to Modify window.

Still don't think you can drag two mono clips into a stereo track.

Say you have a timeline, created in v4, and all your music is on A9/A10, panned L/R. You create a new stereo track in v5, but you can't drag the two music clips (L and R) from A9/A10 into the new stereo track (A11). I wish we could do that.

For me that is the Protools way of fixing Avids old (no stereo track) problem. Something I have long wanted to get past after importing AAf's into Protools.

Can you not match frame back to the original music clip in the bin. Then modify the clip to stereo and edit the modified clip back into your new A5  stereo track?

I assume you would loose all you volume graphing.  (FWIW Protools lets you copy a volume (or any other animation) graph and paste it in to aanother track)

Yes, and you lose all add-edits, dissolves, levels, automation gain, EQ's, and AudioSuite effects Sad

Bummer for legacy projects I agree.

If push came to shove for stereo music I would insert the stereo track above my mono music track and match frame edit in the stereo music into it. Then run anlong the mono track and add all the match frame edits to the stereo track adding matching disolves at the same time. PITA but achievable.

For automation you could  AAF export the music tracks to Protools make into stereo tracks (keeping the automation info) and export an AAF back to Avid.   Another PITA

But for EQ, AudioSuite effects and RTAS you would always loose them as the stereo plug is different from the mono plug (Protools anyway)

By the way, exporting a stereo track from Avid to Pro Tools through AAF resulted in a mono track in PT. (I know, not what you suggested, just saying).
