This procedure applies to Windows PCs using MC 4.05.

I used Main Concept's AVCHD to P2 transcoder to create the

translated files and card directory structure.  The program is free

and may be downloaded from the Panasonic website. You will have to

provide an email address for them to send you the download link.

     In MC, if there is no Import P2 option under the Files pull-

down menu, make sure that AMA Volume Management is turned off under

Settings\AMA\Volume Mounting.  

    I am assuming that you have created a bin for the files

already.  It is a two stage import procedure.  First, Go to Import

P2 in the Files pull-down menu and select Clips to Bin.  Navigate

to the Contents directory of the virtual card and highlite the

"Contents" directory title and hit OK.  The clips will appear in

the bin and can be viewed in the source window. If you place the

bin view to "text" and expand the window enough to see the drive

column, you will notice that the drive is designated as "Virtual".

This means that your media location will disappear as soon as you

exit MC. If you go back into MC, you will find that the media will

be "OFF LINE" and you cannot Relink.  So once you have moved the

clips to bin, do not exit MC, otherwise you will have to start

over.

     In the second stage, you will first select (highlite) all the

clips in the bin.  Next, go to Import P2 again, but select "media"

this time.  Your clips will be imported for real. This may take a

few minutes - depends on the number of clips.
