Adding a delay to a looping cell animation...

...or just making the cell play every ten seconds (whichever is easier).

    Hello all,
I have a time and temperature bug that I want to overlay with a cell animated station bug every 10 seconds. Is there a macro you can add to the cell command to do this?
The cell reveals the logo holds for five seconds then reveals off.
So basically I need a command to play the cell every 10 seconds.
Or to have it loop, but have a ten second delay between loops.
I am not a macro guy so any help is appreciated!

Are you using a Deko or a Dekocast?

If Dekocast, I have developed a work-around that involves three action timelines.  One to bring the bug (etc) on, another to take it out, and a third, (the length of the time between on and an again), that loops and triggers the other two actions at the approriate times.

I can provide further details if you need.

    DenverArt,

I'm not sure what you mean by "work-around"? That's actually the way the product works (or can work). The entire concept of DekoCast is to use a set of Video Objects (Video In, Clips, Cel Animations, ...) each of which is defined by a set of parameters, and then use the timeline to create an action or set of actions which modify the parameters over time to animate them to achieve the on-air look you desire.

One often overlooked parameter is an actions "Action command" parameter. So let's say you have an Action (let's call it "Cel Loop") that reveals your logo, holds it for five seconds and then reveals it off and when that is done, you want to pause 10 seconds and do that all over again. You could do this by doing the following:

       1) Extending the length of the action by 10 seconds (just increase the duration by 10 seconds).

       2) Drag the timeline scrubber all the way to the right

       3) Turn animate mode on

       4) In the performance pane, click on the "Parameters" tab. This will show all the parameters available to you

       5) Check the "Scene" checkbox and scroll down until you see your Actions "Action Command". In my example, it would be named "Action Cel Loop command"

       6) Double-click on the parameter name in that list

       7) An "Edit Value" window will come up. Enter the word "Play"  (without the quotes), and hit enter.

       9) Turn animate mode off.

Now, when you run the action, it will do what it did before and then wait 10 seconds and do it all over again ... forever. You can create a separate action to stop that looping by changing that "Action command" to "Stop".

    I hope that helps.

    Dave
