I have an HDV project imported native (1080i). These are all day conferences and the sequences run 4-5 hrs. When I export to h.264 (960 x 540) I am getting the error/exception message above (export audio too large.) Seems there is a length limit to the audio. If I export video only, fine. If I break up the exports into sections I have no problems outputting about 2-1/4 at a time.
It's not a drive space issue. I'm exporting with about 1TB available and the files end up to be approx. 1GB per hour.
Any advice?
I am on a dual G5, 2.0GB, OS 10.4.11, xpress pro 5.6.4.
Thanks in advance-- Scott
You're hitting a QT file size limit. Keep the files to under 2 GB each.
Must think of something clever to go here...
I've exported QT files that are way larger than 2GB. I'm not so sure that's the issue.

Depends on the QT version and the disk file type. It had been a problem in the past.
Maybe it is the h.264 type. I certainly have exported other .mov's much much bigger than 2GB, so if anyone really has the scoop on this I would appreciate it. FYI, my drives are usually formatted Mac OS extended (journaled.) --Scott
HBrock-- What do you mean by "disk file type?" Hard drive or QT type? I'm running QT 7.6.4 on Xpress Pro 5.6.7 (mot 5.6.4 as I state above.) OK-- maybe this QT version is not fully blessed by Avid, but certainly it has caused no other issues for me.
Why only is the "Export Audio Too Large?" The video takes up much more disk space. Mods? Avid folks?
If your disk is formatted FAT32 rather than HFS+ you won't be able to write files larger than 2 GB.
No no, I know about the 2GB file limit. I'm formatted HFS+ - Have exported QT files in the 10's & 20's & 30's of GB's. the real bummer here is that I am on a PPC and the Elgato Turbo h.264 accelerator will not work :-(((
