Just checking to see if MC4 is compatable with Adobe Premiere CS4, or if there are any confilcts with either Photoshop CS4, or any of the add ons that Premiere installs. For that matter are there any conflicts with MC4 and any of the older versions of the Avid add-ons like Avid DVD or Squeeze 5, etc.
Thanks.
Hello Clement,
If Avid MC 4.0 is dongle activated, it will work with AvidDVD version 6.0
If Avid MC 4.0 is software activated it will NOT work with AvidDVD v.6.0You will need the newer AvidDVD 6.1AvidDVD 6.1 ships with boxed versions of 4.0 ( with the exception of Boxed Academic versions)If you want it otherwise I think you have to buy the Production Suite for 195USD

For what this is worth...Although your question relates to MC4, I can only report my experience running MC3.1.3.2 and the full CS4 Production Premium on the same system and hope it might be the same for MC4. My MC3 is installed on system drive "C" and I installed CS4 on an alternate drive "D" which already had Avid Liquid 7.2 SP1 running with no apparent conflicts to MC3. After installing/registering/updating CS4 to the max, I defragged all drives, rebooted, and found much to my delight, that not only were there NO CONFLICTS between any of my 3 NLEs, but also there was an actual IMPROVEMENT in the overall performance/speed of all my NLEs! GO FIGURE! I have no rational explanation as to why this performance "boost" occured after the CS4 install, but it did and it's real and it continues. I really enjoy the ability to use After Effects directly from Premiere Pro timeline then exporting in a MC3 friendly format for import to my Avid timeline. Well worth the risks I took!
danlasvegasnv, what is MC3 friendly format? How do you export from Premiere? Can you tell more about it?
Thanks for the quick reply. I'll give it a shot, as I use Premiere as a backup in case something goes terribly wrong with my Avid.
Boky and all others who are interested...Obtaining the "MC3 friendly format" is quite simple yet overall a seemingly unneccessary shame that all these "hoops" have to be jumped through in order to get the benefits of After Effects without spending a "plunger" for Automatic Duck! Here goes...After achieving the desired results from After Effects and seeing it fully rendered on the Premiere Pro timeline, go to "File" and select "Export" to QuickTime using one of the Avid Codecs for fast import into the MC3 timeline. This works for me and allows me the luxury to spend my excess money for many sumptuous dinners of "duck 'a l'orange" rather than a one-shot plunger to put "Automatic Quack" on my computer!
MC3 friendly format obtained like this...After Premiere Pro timeline displays the desired results of AfterEffects and is fully rendered, select "File", "Export" to QuickTime using appropriate Avid Codecs for fast import to MC3 timeline. Works for me!
