DS 10.1 Crashes with RED -AFE and EDL

I am trying the typical AFE, and then an EDL workflow with DS 10.1 where I am pointing to the RED source folder for the files and the capture is incomplete.  Metafuze and Media Composer were used to edit 3 clips together on the timeline. AFE and EDL were exported from Media Composer for this test. DS recognizes both AFE ad EDL properly in order to create clips in a Bin and on the Timeline.  The problem is tring to get linked and input the RED files thru SDK interface.

When it does capture RED files I get bad files that have a split screen wrong half alternating frames appearing.  When I go to capture files seperately to a Bin it takes an enormous amount of time to verify the files and launch the SDK interface but does not work and fill the window with media, only "media not found" appears.  I have placed the RED files in a folder on the Desktop and also in a folder on the video Media drives in a seperate folder from the videostorage folder but on the same drive.  In either case I get media not found message.

As a result I do not get the media relinked to the clips on the timeline and capture does not seem to work.  Of course I restarted the program several times, tried pointing the files on the videostorage (fast) drives and then the next time to the folder on the desktop with the same results.  I know the RED files are good because Metafuze used them to transcode to DNX36 properly.  Things are just not working.

Any advice on what to do next would be appreciated.

Each release of Avid DS, since the RED implementation in version 10.1.1 (10.1 did not directly support RED files) is using a specific RED SDK build.  It is possible that the RED sources that you use are not compatible.

If these RED files load properly in MetaFuze, you can then convert this media into MXF material to be used in Avid DS, unless you wish to maintain the RGB 4:4:4 quality.

For best results, you should upgrade to Avid DS version 10.2 and add the 10.2.1 update.

I can see that an upgrade to the present software version would be appropriate however, it appears that you are saying that certain camera builds will not be compatible in any event...is that right?  I am creating 4:4:4 files in the Avid DS but making .gen files for that purpose and not .mxf.  I was told that 4:4:4 would not work on a single striped array unless it is .gen for video.  Can this setting be alternated with each project or do I need ot define folders on the local storage array for both?

We don't control new RED enhancements, and engineering must follow the code changes provided in the RED SDK (software development kit). RED media can be compatible but we cannot guarantee it, it is not our code...

I was suggesting the MXF format in case you were working in YCbCr 4:2:2, but since you are indeed in RGB 4:4:4, you can only work in GEN.

If the RED material that you are using is not importing or linking in Avid DS, then that media is not compatible with the RED SDK used in that release.  So either you upgrade Avid DS or you convert the RED files using another application to, say, DPX files.
