    Spammers!!!!

Someone keeps posting Spam messages about google, the mafia and child pornography.  I click the "Report Abuse" link, but it certainly doesn't stop this person (or automated system) from creating a new user profile and re-posting the same nonsense.

Isn't there a way to initiate a member "approval" process before a new person can post?  For example, first-time posters who are registered owners of an Avid product should be able to post without such approval requirement.  But, first-time posters who are not registered product owners would be subject to having their postings approved for content.

That would hopefully quell some of these Spam posts, while still giving someone who may need quick 24 hr access to the forums the ability to post without delay.

If it's automated, how about one of those systems where you read a series of letters & numbers that are written in cartoon-like characters, and have to type them into a box to verify you're a human.

Kenton, we're looking into the long-term solution to manage abuses of the Forum by spammers. In the meantime, please forward to me directly via email, any instances that occur. Thanks.

    Re: Spammers!!!!

Sounds simple but requires development time from the web who are working on the merge of the 5 business units.   WE did consider some other alternatives but they would apply to everyone based on the implementation of the community server platform we use today.  Once a spammer has been identified the web team does do some tracking with IP's and can lock out people based on certain criteria.  Thats the best we can do for now until we go to the next generation software.

Just keep reporting and if you feel like we arent seeing the reports fast enough, email me directly.
