Media Services Engine Critical Startup error

Hi, I am setting up interplay for a DS Remote Processor and am getting the following error message:

Media Services Engine Critical Startup error

The Media Services Database could not be contacted. Please check your DB configuration - Media Services Engine cannot continue

When starting AVID Interplay Media Services this error comes up and I am unable to access the Admin Tool, or Stetting buttons. So I cannot change anything to fix this. As soon as I hit OK on the error the program closes.

    Thanks for any help.

Intel Core i7 CPU 965 @ 3.20GHz 5.99 GB of RAM, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

    AVID DS v10.2

Re: Media Services Engine Critical Startup error

This error indicates that the Media Services Engine cannot talk to the SQ db. The most likley reason is that SQL was not setup correctly. For Interplay the setup steps are explained in the "Interplay Media Services Installation and Configuration Guide" section "Installing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express". I am not sure how this infor is realyed for DS. Specifically, amongst others, dual mode authentication and TCP/IP protocal have to be enabled. The best advice is to uninstall SQL express and reinstall it following the doc. Afterwards, reinstalling the Media Services Engine (or running DBInstall.bat, which creates the dB) should fix this problem.
