Hi, we've got an XDCAM EX project shot in 25p. We're onlining now in a 25p project but we're playing out to a 50i HDCAM SR. All looks good except the rolling titles at the end credits which look jerky - a result of the "p" i guess. My question is; because we are playing out 50i is there any way of creating titles in the sequence which will look smoother on playout, any effects or tricks anyone can think of to help smooth out the titles. I would suggest to the client to open a new 50i project and do the titles seperately but they have footage from the show mixed in with them which is still 25p so i dont think thats an option? Is it possible to apply an interlacing effect of something that would look good upon playing out to tape? I hope this makes sense to someone, it's a little murky to me so i hope i've explained it well. As a side note, i didnt think you could play out an interlaced master from a progressive project but we did a test and the SR was fine with it? Titles titles titles?? Any ideas?
sorry forgot to mention, they're working on a symphony nitris dx version 3.1.8 (i think) on an 8 core HP workstation (xw8600)
Hi there,
Can you not flip the 'Format' tab from 25p to 25i, render the rolling title in interlaced mode, and then flip back to 25p for playout? This has, I think, been possible since V3.x.
Not in front of the machine just now, or I would try it. Should work, though.
Regards,
Ian
