any news on when Unity will run on Snow Leopard?

My Mac Avids are fine, but we're experimenting with our FCPs, and version 7 and Snow Leopard was installed, since they work best together or something like that.....anyway, was wondering if Snow Leopard installers will be in the near future since now that we can run FCP on Unity, I would love to start testing out throwing our FCPs on to relieve some of our storage issues.

anyone with any info would be great...thanks!

BTW, our Mac Avids are running 10.5.x, so we're not running into that issue...

    Joe

    Hope you're well...... long time....

Snow Leopard is currently being tested and we expect approval in the near future.  WE had to test it across all products and while Pro Tools was first out of the gate....  the Avid video side is still in test.

Ping me on email in a week or so and I may know more... especially on the Unity side of the house.

    :)

    be well....

Re: any news on when Unity will run on Snow Leopard?

Hi Marianna...we've been looking into the FCP on Unity lately and it tested well with v6 running on Leopard...but we upped to v7 on Snow Leopard, partly because we do a lot of work with NBC, and they went up to 7, and we opted to go up to Snow Leopard on them for the added speed it is supposed to give rendering in FCP....so once we did that, we jumped ahead of Unity qualifying...which was okay since we were only in the testing mode...but it gives us a great amount of flexibility when deciding where FCP project media lives, since we are starting to go Mac AVID, and using dual boot systems to run both.  I'll check back with you end of week to see if you have anything new to report...thanks!

Has anyone tested this? How's it going?

I have one facility working with FCP 7 & leopard 10.5.8 and Unity client 5.1.3 and they're OK - although unsupported. Would love to know if anyone's tried it. We've got 4 clients that are wanting to get on shared storage ASAP - and we would like to use one of our Unity 5 systems. Thanks. Basically need to get an answer today and unfortunately don't have the luxury of testing it. Otherwise the client is wanting to go with XSan or EditShare or something similar.
