    archiving old SD stuff

    I'm looking to get a mojo so I can injest component video from old tapes (VHS, Video 8, Umatic, Beta, and others). I'm looking for suggestions as to what format to save them as. I've been dubbing some of the old material to DVCAM but want something better. I still like tape and thinking one archive could be to HDV tape, as well as saving files. What's an efficient file/format? Some of it will be edited into SD projects but some will be used in HD. I'm all too aware that there's not that much information / resolution in the originals, but...                   sasha
