Dears,
I worked on DekoCast 3.6 and I used to put clip playback objects, and I used to play dv video files, every graphic guy knows the format,
but recently, I started to work with DekoCast 4.1.2, and only playes the following extentions: mxf, m2v, vbs, and it doesn't play the old dv extensions anymore, and nobody arround knows how to convert to these formats, and most of them has not heard of them,
please advise, how to convert, what software to use?!
regards
The older systems used a Targa card and we supported .dv format whereas the newer systems support .mxf which is an mpeg wrapper. Unfortunately, not all .mxf files are exchangeable. Avid Editors create .mxf as OP1A and the Deko & DekoCast products need .mxf as OP-Atom. The reason for the different (incompatible) flavors is due to the historical development differences prior to Avid acquiring the Deko product line.
You can import .dv files into a newer DekoCast by using the Transcode application that is included with the DekoCast software. There were some issues at 4.12 which have been corrected and enhanced at 4.21.
If your graphics folks prefer to create .MOV files, Transcode can import those formats as well.

In our plant, we have Deko3000HD's and DekoCastHD's, so it has been very easy for me to first import the QT file(s) into the 3000, then copy the resulting .MXF file(s) to the DekoCast.
