    undeleted media causing problems

I need help with media not being deleted.  Our system is over 96% full.  Each day in the projects folder where we have each day of the week we go in and delete the prior weeks same day files.  We have had this system since February of this year.  But, I have discovered that there is some files dating back to March still in the system.  Plus there are a lot of metadata clips that have the red dot beside them meaning the master clips are gone.  I have worked my way to the video link to see what all is in the system.  Some files have name titles from when they were injested off of the P2 cards.  Those I can go do a search by it's name and get everything related to it listed and delete them.  There is a "BUNCH" of files that have crazy numerical names like A01.D04FG21_D04FG21.mxf.  But, when I do a search by these numbers to try to get everything related to it nothing shows up.  What are these and how do I delete them or is it safe to delete them?

    Re: undeleted media causing problems

What version of interplay are you using?

Are there any reservations on the clips?

The files with 'crazy nunbers' are MXF files; most likely media created by the edit platforms (local ingest, rendered effects etc.).

The best way to delete is to use Access. Deleting these files directly is not recommended.

Do an update status from Media Indexer on offline masterclips in Access (right click a masterclip and you should see this option). It may restore some of the clips and then delete them again.

Also check your orphan clips (you have to be an adminstrator to do this in Interplay) and delete them if necessary.

Read the section in the Access UG and Interplay Best Practices documents (available in the Knowledge Base) concerning media management and deleting media

I'm sure there are other options, but that's a start.

    Interplay v1.4 4 x MC Adrenaline v3 6 x NC XP v7 1 x NC Nitris v7 4 x Airspeed (2 Ingest/2 Playback) Unity ISIS v1.4 [view my complete system specs]
