Longish story, but an "update" of Norton AV ate MediaComposer 3.0. Avid Support had me re-install MC 3.0. Everything fine, but we went to EXPORT program as H.264 and Sorenson 3 codec is missing from the pull down.We use it all the time. We know it was there.
Anybody have an idea how to get it back?
re install sorenson squeeze
Cheers
Callum
Thanks, Callum, but THAT will not work. We don't have Squeeze installed in the first place.
However, Marianna contacted me off the board and suggested I confirm that QuickTime was properly setup (it was) and to reinstall Avid Codec LE. Reinstalling LE solved the problems, but created another mystery.
It installed seven QuickTime Extensions (.qtx) six of which appear on the pulldown list. The one that did not appear is AVIDAVd1. Its properties say it is the codec for DVCPro-HD, but DVCPro-HD does not appear on the QT format settings pulldown.
Anybody, know what's going on and more importantly how to get DVCPro-HD to appear so we can use it?
Thanks, JP
you might also need to enable legacy codecs in quicktime player preferences, same page as GDI safe mode.....

Did you have it before? AFAIK it is Mac only, ythough I have read that installing Panaosnics P2 reader installs the codec for windows, though I haven't tried that myself.

[EDIT]As an aside, I can't understand manufacturers who make equipment using proprietary codecs and then don't make those codecs freely available to whoever needs them. By not doing so they protect their intellectual property at the risk of creating an evolutionary dead end for themselves.
Putting it another way, you may have the best camera in the world with the best codec, but if no-one wishes to pay the licence fee to add support for it to their NLE software, how valuable is that intellectual property?[/EDIT]
