    Audio Buffer out of range

    Does anyone know how to set the audio buffer using the console?  Whenever I try to open the Audio settings, Avid crashes giving me this message:

    AudioSettingsWindow::UpdateAudioSetupStuff() toolsPreloadValue [4096] out of valid range. [ Min: 512 ; Max 3960 ]

    I think the problem is that Avid default buffer is at 4096, but my sound card maximum buffer is 3960 and is out of range with Avid.  My theory was that I could alter the buffer in Avid to within the range of the soundcard using the console so that I don't crash Avid using the Audio Settings method.

    I've tried disconnecting my soundcard, relaunching Avid, using Audio settings to bring down the buffer to within the range of my soundcard, saving then restarting Avid with my soundcard attached (Edirol UA-25), but this still crashes Avid.

    Thanks.
