    upgrade uninstall question 3.0

    Hi again,

here is an uninstall question.  it says in the read me file to do the following,

"Remove the following Registry keys on your system if they still exist after the
    uninstallation process.
    HKLM/Software/Avid Technology/<productname>
    HKLM/Software/Avid Technology/AVX Plug-ins

    The first HKLM..... <product name>, i don't see,

the second HKLM... I do see.  in the screen shot I have added.

my question is, So I delete the folder that says,  "AVX Plug-ins" or the contents of the folder, and if the contents, the entire contents?

thanks for helping, i don't want to delete anything from the registry unless I know what the heck.

It all seems to be fine.  I did not remove anything of the above reg keys, and so far it is working fine.  If i run into any problems in the future, i can always come back to this, but for now it apears to be working fine.

That's probably because Avid say in their install notes "Remove the following Registry keys on your system if they still exist..."  One or both of them may already have been  removed.

Avid have relocated several folders from the positions they previously occupied to make MC more "Windows compliant".  Manually deleting that folder will ensure that the new plug-ins folder will be in the correct place.

Not smart.  Avid don't recommend a course of action unless they have good grounds, especially if it's as risky as directly editing the registry.

You may have a version of MC installed that appears to be working until you do something a little different!  Putting it another way, down the track be prepared to post here about a nebulous problem that no-one seems to be able to help you fix because of left-over components from a previous install.

    MC 4.0.3 - Asus P6T Deluxe V2 mobo - Intel i7 920 2.66GHz - nVidia Quadro 1700 - 12 Gbyte mem - Internal 4 Tb SATA II 4-way RAID 5 array - Pyro firewire... [view my complete system specs]

You mean apart from your audio problems in your thread "sound troubles" http://community.avid.com/forums/t/73179.aspx.

Sweetmadness, before you go and buy a new soundcard you'd probably be better off to uninstall and then re-install MC according to the readme. If that fixes your problem please report back.

MC3.0.5, QT7.4.5, Vista Business x64, Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 3.4GHz, Asus P5K Mobo, 8GB RAM (OCZ Reaper @ 950MHz DDR II), GeForce 8800GTX (multithreading... [view my complete system specs]
