Alternative uses for Media Composer - no 1 -Swing Analysing

During these tough times when everyone is slashing budgets and the business just isnt what it was, I thought you might like to know of an alternative use for Media Composer that I stumbled across.

A young friend of mine is entering the qualifying for the British Open at Turnberry (Golf) but had developed a tendency to push everything a little left. He has had his swing analysed in the past but it was always in a dark room and he felt it didnt give him an accurate representation of being out on the course.

I took my camera down to the course and filmed several holes and him on the practice ground, all with my camera locked off on a tripod.

Using Media composer, i overlaid lines I had drawn in Title Tool and we analysed his swing together, based on what he has seen he has corrected his swing and says he is hitting the ball straighter and further than at any point in his life.

This doesnt make me Butch Harmon but hey any extra revenue sources would be most welcome...

To make the day a bit more interesting for me, a did a bit of messing around with my camera and slung a few bits together to put on you-tube.

    Hope you enjoy

    Regards

Well I think I can claim to have beaten you to it.  Before the days of You Tube I added a feature to "The Dudley Open" website (OK, so it's not quite the British Open)

Go to http://www.thedudleyopen.co.uk/ and click on D.O.S.A. (Dudley Open Swing Analyser)

Footage captured from my Hi-8 camcorder via composite to an ABVB Media Composer if I remember correctly

    regards

    Brian

That reminds me, got this year's update to do . . .

    Nice comments....

but where are the title tool lines?? you may have filmed but I think I have analysed!!Big Smile

Is this the Dudley of the Midlands? I lived in Tipton for a short time when I was a student and seem to remember a castle, or am I much mistaken?

No, the name comes from an area in Edinburgh called "The Dudleys".  We live in Dudley Crescent, there's a Dudley Gardens, Dudley Avenue, Dudley Grove etc etc

    <http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Dudley+Crescent,+Edinburgh,+Midlothian+EH6,+United+Kingdom&sll=53.904338,-4.042969&sspn=14.918028,33.75&ie=UTF8&cd=3&geocode=FT0mVgMduU7P_w&split=0&z=16&iwloc=A>

We do have a castle in Edinburgh though!

Did you post a video of the swing analysis? I am curious to see what you did.

The link to the youtube video didn't have the swing analysis.

I used titlr tool to draw lines through his body and along the swing arc so we could see where he was deviating, if his head was moving etc etc
