Hi guys,
I am about to upgrade my PC so that it can run MC 3.5. I am trying to figure out which Sound card and Firewire card to go with. There are no specific models listed under the System Requirements for these parts.
I have always gone with Creative sound cards. I am currently running an Audigy 2 ZS which is a bit old. Can anyone vouch for the newer X-Fi cards working properly with MC 3.5? And if they do not, is there a tried and true card to go with?
For the Firewire cards, I know that the 3 listed for Xpress Pro also worked with MC 3.0. Is it safe to assume they are still the qualified cards for MC 3.5?
Thanks in advance for your help guys :)
Bret
Creative soundcards will pobably never go out of fashion as far is Avid is concerned.
Even the oldest SB Live still works. (as far as I know)
Firewire cards should have the Texas Instruments chipset.
This mostly means SIIG and ADS PYRO brands.

If you're upgrading your motherboard, I believe that current Gigabyte mobos use TI for their on-board firewire. Check first before buying though.
From reports on these forums it appears that the X-Fi PCIe cards are NOT recognised my MC. However the X-Fi PCI cards work fine. That is what I use. Also they seem to handle the accursed Audio Scrub Bug the best:
