Max length of recording in AirSpeed recommendation?

Is there a maximum length of recording limit in AirSpeed when it is NOT under control of Capture Manager i.e. manual record?

I understand that clips of more than 3 hours are not recommended when under CapMan control but I think that is a problem with the CapMan SQL database rather than the AirSpeed.  I also remember that there used to be a 6 hour limit to a clip which can be opened by Media Composer.

The reason for asking is I have a need to make single recording in IMX40 of between 6 and 7 hours ideally without a break.

Also, when setting up to record, does the Video ID have to be entered before an AirSpeed can be put into record?

    Thanks,

    B

Still waiting on my engineers, but the specs for Airspeed indicate a maximum internal storage capacity of 144GB (4 x 36GB) with supported resolutions of DV 25, DV 50 and IMX 50. No mention of IMX 40. At DV 25, that would be approximately 10 hours of storage. More info to come.

This depends on the file format-   You can record 3 Hours as OMF MAX, and 12 hours as MXF.

PS-  up to your storage capacity of your airspeed.

Yes, but you will have trouble scrubbing through a 7 hour Master Clip once you bring it into your editing application.

Re: Max length of recording in AirSpeed recommendation?

Thanks for all the info.  The IMX40 was a typo the resolution will actually be IMX30.

So it seems that there is no technical reason (other than ultimate storage capacity) why we cannot record long clips in MXF of 7 hours although, as you say, scrubbing through them will be 'interesting'.

So does this men that the Media Composer 6 hour max clip length limit is a myth or just fixed in the later releases?

    Thanks,

    Brian
