Hi all,
I'm not a DS guy, so go easy on me here...
I have to edit some promos on FCP, which will then be finished on DS. The source material is HDCAM SR with Dolby E sound.
Should I (a) capture the Dolby E and monitor thru a decoder or (b) capture the 5.1 discrete tracks
I'm not expecting to do anything complicated to the sound - just cuts.
How do I then pass the stuff on to DS - will exporting the sound as OMFI and the video as QT do the job?
How does DS handle Dolby E/5.1?
I'm nervous!
Conventional wisdom is that you can NOT capture a Dolby E stream into DS and successfully output it. It will not survive.
While there have been some interesting hacks, the safest approach is your (b). Just keep track of track count and decode and encode delays in your work flow.
Good luck,
Jef
Hello,
i got a question about DolbyE on DS10. It is supported as Imported files ?
i mean , if a Importe a .wav files encoded in DolbyE (with a Server Dolby DP600), and record it on a HDCAM (with DATA mode), do you think my DolbyE will be still OK in my HD tape ? the AJA card will not distroyed it ?
i will have a try anyways, but if anyone have some experience with that im interested ;)
Marc.
Unfortunately not. Dolby E is not a supported audio option in the DS application.
