Just recently upgraded to 3.5.1 on an xw8400 / VistaBiz 64 bit, SN classic. One lingering issue is downconverted HD material - so far just 1080/30p and 1080/60i. When the HD project is switched to NTSC 30i, the downconverted video looks 1/2 res - lots of aliasing, both on client monitor (SDI or component) Always green mode, tried both 8 and 10 bit, no difference. Same if you perform a SD mixdown. This used to look great/as expected on 1.8.3 / xw8200 XPRO 32 bit SP2. Except for the host cpu, HW is same as before.
In 3.5.1 there is an option, when HD is still the chosen format, to do a digital cut in SD -- cool -- and this video looks fine, both on client monitor and actual output. But when same project has the format changed to SD, it looks terrible. SD projects (w/ SD source) look fine, so there is something fishy in the SW/HW instructions for downconverting that is not good. Anyone else experiencing this, or tips for a fix?

We have this too. I don't think it's anything new, HD just looks soft when you playback in SD mode.
We downconvert our HD material before hand (with a Sony HDCamSR deck) if we're going to playout in PAL or NTSC.
Thanks for the response. But this is, most definitely, new w/ this upgrade -- not so much a question of soft, as it is aliasing.
