MC 3.5 DX + Dell 22" Widescreen Monitor

Hi all, I was wondering what the best/ proper settings are for the  Dell 22" Widescreen monitor for use with the MC?  Everything on the desktop and the application is stretched out and tech support here doesn't know how to fit it and still work properly with the Avid.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

just use the native resolution the panel offers.. anything else will result in either blurry or weird shaped pictures...

What Menno said.  Depending on which model you have the native resolution will be either 1680x1050 or 1920x1080.

Right-click anywhere on your desktop and if you're running XP, from the drop-down menu select Properties.  With Vista, select Personalization.  Click on the Display Settings button or tab, and adjust the settings to match your display size.

Show them what I just posted, they might learn something.  It's really not at all hard, just basic PC setup.

Hey guys, The problem seems to be that we can't use the Native Resolution because the Geffen extender can't handle it.  I guess the cable run is close to the maximum.  Engineer's are looking for other solutions.  Thanks for your input.

yes yes indeed we have had simular issues.. above 1680 they start to act up (depending on which version of course). We had one site were we eventually dropped down to monitors that could display what the geffen max would allow. i believe it was 1680 at that time.

The downside of LCD or TFT is that if you go lower then native resolution the monitor is gonna scale the picture and since the scalers inthose monitors are worth less then a cent it lookslike crap. Or it will be blurry or it will be edgy or even worse.. blurry AND edgy ..

Nice problem to solve for the engineers though.. hope they figure it out.
