Hi all...I hope this helps:
I have struggled thoughout time to make an SD DVD from an HDV project that I was pleased to look at.
Shooting in HDV, editing in MC and then transcoding to Mpeg to reach the point of an acceptable finished DVD has always been a tad of a disaster for me
I stumbled upon a simple workflow that apperas to be working - I thought to share
Of great significance (to me) - the process below eliminated the jitter that I was experiencing with still images stretched over the time line - whew!
1. create a top empty video track
2. apply a BCC colour correction to top empty video track - reduce brightness and saturation by about 10%
3. export a 709 qt ref file from MC
4. open Avid DVD, import qt ref
5. burn
I had tried many many many methods with software that ranged from procoder to squeeze..instead going from MC to Avid DVD really offered me satisfaction - I'm sending a master for duplication today (thank god - the end of my 4 year project looks great (now) on an SD DVD - whew!!)
Any improvements/suggestions to the above that anyone has successfully practiced would be greatly appreciated.
My ears are open to improving my workflow - bring it on if ya got an idea or two
Hope this helps someone
Cheers
