    swap transition

I'm wondering if there is a transition in Avid that will create the effect of one video image swapping places with another.  I don't mean a spin or push or wipe.  I mean, something where you literally see the outgoing clip move, for example, to the lower left corner as the incoming clip is revealed, then moves into the foreground from the upper right corner.

I hope that makes sense :/ Final Cut has this transition, it's called "Swap Slide"

I know I could just use 3D warp or something to reposition my clips as needed over time, using keyframes and all that, but I could save a lot of time in this and in future projects (as I'm sure I will want to do this again), but if I could just drag one transition over onto my timeline, it would be a little slice of heaven.

    Thanks for any help!

    Re: swap transition

Not sure if there is an effect to do what you want (unless one of the Boris Continuum transitions does it), but if you make an effect you like with 3D Warp (or whatever) you can save it for future use by clicking on the pink icon at the top-right of the effects editor and dragging it to a bin. Rename it so you know what it specifically is.

I have a bin of effects that I've created (some as effects and some as sub-sequences with a stack of effects) that I keep on a USB stick and carry round with me. Wherever I'm working I can open the bin and drag the effects onto clips.

Similar to the Favourite Effects in FCP, but you organise it yourself.

    cheers,

    Campbell

    Re: swap transition

The video doesn't play on my comp.  But I understand what Campbell is describing.  Looks like that's what I'm gonna have to do.

    Thanks!
