I have a student that shot a short film on 16mm, had it telecined to 1080p/29.97. It was captured on a Symphomy Nitris 1.8.3. The footage was then moved to a firewire drive. The student is using MCSoft 3.1.1. Mac. Also, the firewire drive that has the mxf folders on it is pc formatted. So, not being able to use the Symphomy Nitris to do the edit, any thoughts as to how he can edit the footage? Thanks,Kent

You don't need the SN. The footage should be compatible with his MC Soft.

So, my student will start a new projects in 1080i/59.94 and then import in the 1080p the footage, is this correct?
Kent
There should be no need to import. If you copy the media to an HFS+ formatted drive, and have the Avid MediaFiles folder at its root level, you create a project, create a new bin, open the Media Tool and drag the clips into a bin. And start working.
